Tips on how to have a WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Work-life Balance for Secondary 1 students
Many teenagers have been stressed due to their poor choices in spending their time. It is especially difficult for secondary 1 students as the workload and time spent in school have increased and are different from their Primary School life. Here are some tips to have a healthy lifestyle:

1. Set Priorities
Decide what is most important and what needs to be done first. You do not need to do everything in one night. Prioritize what needs to be done early in the week, and what can be done later.

2. Set Realistic Goals
Set goals that you can see yourself achieving within a week, two weeks or maybe a month. Setting goals that are too high can make you feel more stressed if you cannot realistically achieve them.

3. Acknowledge Your Feelings
It is normal to feel overwhelmed when things get busy. If you are feeling especially stressed or depressed, you may want to look at everything you are involved in.
Be honest with yourself. If there's an activity that no longer brings you joy, think about whether you really want to continue doing it. It's hard to let go of something you've invested  in, but if it's become a chore with little return for you, it may be time to drop it.

4. Take Care of Your Health
Eat a balanced and healthy diet, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. Do not sacrifice your health because you feel you are too busy to take care of yourself. A combination of a healthy diet, regular exercise, and plenty of sleep helps relieve stress. Here are some tips

-DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST

Breakfast kick-starts your metabolism and helps you to be alert and awake throughout the day. Make sure you always eat a nutritious breakfast. Make it wholesome and make it count.

-DRINK MORE WATER
Water is an essential part of your diet. Drink plenty of water and avoid empty calories from things such as fizzy drinks, energy drinks or juices with added sugar. Eat your calories don't drink them.

-SET ASIDE TIME FOR EXERCISING

Exercising helps the body to sweat and relieve some stress. Set aside some time to Involve yourself in an active sport or take a few hours off to take a jog in a park. This will help yourself increase your physical level and keep in shape.

What Causes Stress For Secondary 1 Students ?

From our observation , we saw that Secondary One students have been stressed lately. In this post , we will explain what causes it ! But first , we shall break down the situation !

What is Their Situation?
As a Secondary 1 students ourselves, we know the struggle of trying to keep up with the workload while still trying to spend time socialising. Many people say its not that big of a jump from Primary 6 to Secondary 1 , but its not that true. There is a lot of new things that they are exposed to at the same time , so they might not be able to grasp onto them so easily , which makes things harder.

The Effect
Due to all the things the Secondary One students had to do, they may get stressed by the amount of pressure shoved into their faces. They would not want to disappoint anyone by not doing well , so they go an extra mile to maintain those good grades.

For example , they stay up until 2 or 3 am to study for all the topics they did not understand after doing their homework for almost 4 hours straight. This may lead to the students lacking sleep , making them wake up on the wrong side of the bed in the morning. This will affect their mood , and then may affect one’s relationship with others. They would sacrifice their family time to study , and that could upset one’s family members.

Summary

The students have an unbalanced life as they get too worked up over their work to focus on socialising. These students do not know how to balance their work and socialising properly so we are here to give you some tips on how to have a balanced life.
